Director Chad Stahelski, who co-created the franchise alongside Reeves, shared that the original movie was meant to be a small indie project.
“Looking back now, more than ten years later, it’s hard to believe what that idea became,” he said. “It’s the fans that embraced the movie that made it all possible — and made all the pain a pleasure.”

Filmmaker Jeffrey Doe was given one directive from Stahelski while making the doc: “Keep it honest.”
And honest he did. The result? A “raw, unflinching” film that shows just how intense — and intense ly personal — the Wick journey has been for everyone involved.
Producer Basil Iwanyk said, “We have never worked harder on any movie than we have on the John Wick series… because we survived, that’s what made the movies so gratifying.”
