Frens, I don’t know. We may end up tussling over this one because I was incredibly disappointed in Animals on Netflix!
When you put Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington in a political thriller involving a kidnapping, secrets, and a high-stakes election, you’ve definitely got my attention.
I went into this film expecting to be on the edge of my seat. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience.
And baby, we need to talk about it!
About Animals
Animals stars Ben Affleck as Mark Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose campaign is struggling financially as he fights to secure the Latino vote.
Kerry Washington plays his wife, Abigail.
Just days before the election, Mark and Abigail receive a phone call informing them that their son has been kidnapped.
Now, Mark must navigate a family crisis while trying to keep his political ambitions alive.
With so much at stake, the decisions he makes could cost him everything.
My Thoughts
I’m not going to give too much away here because I have plenty to say in my video review.
But my biggest issue with Animals is that I struggled to connect with the film.
The storyline had potential, and I was genuinely interested in seeing how everything would unfold.
However, between the performances and the direction the story took, I found myself wanting more.
Now, don’t get me wrong. There were a few moments that I thoroughly enjoyed, and one particular turn of events caught me completely off guard!
But did those moments save the film for me?
You’ll have to watch my review to find out!
